Using the Career Development Modules
Using the Career Development Modules
The career development modules are designed to provide structure while allowing each mentoring pair the flexibility to focus on the topics that best fit the mentee's interests and goals. Rather than feeling obligated to complete every activity, mentor-mentee pairs are encouraged to choose the modules, activities, and discussion topics that best support the mentee's development.
Keep the following in mind as you work through the modules:
- Start with the Resources.ÌýReview the resources before your meeting whenever possible. Many of the homework activities build on these materials and will help prepare you for a more meaningful conversation together.
- Mentor participation in homework is optional unless noted. Most activities are intended for the mentee to complete independently. Some modules include optional mentor activities or specific preparation for mentors.
- Discussion questions are conversation starters. You do not need to answer every question during a single meeting. Feel free to focus on the topics that are most relevant to your conversation.Ìý
- AI activities are optional. Some activities and resources incorporate AI tools to support brainstorming, editing, and practice. These tools are intended to supplement - not replace - participants' own work and critical thinking. Because AI can make mistakes or provide inaccurate feedback, participants should use their own judgment when evaluating its suggestions. All AI-related activities can be completed without using AI if participants prefer.
