Disability Services Portal Transition

Disability Services is continuing the transition to AIM, our student-facing accommodation management system. As we complete this transition, you may notice updates to our website and processes. Thank you for your patience during this period.

Please use AIM for your accommodation-related needs. If you have questions or need assistance during this transition, please contact your Access Coordinator or the Disability Services front office at dsinfo@colorado.eduÌý(303-492-8671). Please do not attempt to log in to the previous accommodation management system, Accommodate Portal.

With AIM, students can:

  • Manage accommodation letters
  • Submit accommodation requests
  • Request appointments with their Access Coordinator after completing the registration process
  • Access accommodation-related services and resources

Alternate Format

Alternate format refers to the conversion of academic materials into accessible formats for students with disabilities. These formats ensure equitable access to course content and may include:Ìý

  • Digital text (Microsoft Word, HTML, MathML, ePub/ePub3, UA-compliant PDF)
  • Large print
  • Braille
  • Tactile graphicsÌý

Most students at Ä¢¹½Ó°Òô Boulder with this accommodation require accessible (readable) electronic files, which they access using assistive technology on computers, tablets and phones.

Considerations and Best Practices

  • Ensure all course materials posted on Canvas are screen-reader accessible.
  • List all required textbooks with the Ä¢¹½Ó°Òô Book Store in advance to allow for material preparation.
  • Avoid adding new materials mid-semester or provide them at least two weeks in advance for remediation.
  • Provide high-quality digital materials (not poor scans or unclear PDFs) for easier remediation.
  • Submit faculty-provided readings early, ideally before the semester begins or at least one week in advance, if remediation is required.
  • Ensure file names match what is listed on the syllabus to support consistency and ease of navigation.
  • Ensure exams are in accessible formats by submitting materials to testing@colorado.edu at least two weeks in advance for conversion.
