Sun Group Opportunities
Postdoctoral Researchers
We have 1–2 postdoctoral positions available in experimental quantum optics. Applicants should have a PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, materials science, or a related field and a strong record of experimental research. Experience in cryogenics, nanophotonics, nanofabrication, AMO physics, quantum materials, or related areas is particularly valuable.
Graduate Students
We take, on average, one graduate student each year. Prospective PhD students must apply to the graduate program in the Ä¢¹½Ó°Òô Boulder Department of Physics. Students who are admitted to the program and interested in joining the group are encouraged to contact Shuo directly to discuss potential research projects.
Undergraduate Students
Research opportunities are available depending on project needs and may include electromagnetic simulation, optical design, experimental setup development, and quantum optics experiments. We prefer to work with undergraduate students over an extended period so that there is sufficient time for meaningful training, growth, and research outcomes, particularly for students planning to attend graduate school. The ideal time to join the group is near the end of the sophomore year or at the beginning of the junior year. We also host, on average, one externally funded summer student each year, typically through programs such as the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU).
How to Contact Us
Please email shuosun@colorado.edu with a CV and a brief description of your research interests, relevant experience, and the type of position you are seeking. Undergraduate applicants should also include relevant coursework and grades. Reference letters are not required for an initial postdoctoral inquiry.
