Artemi Romanov is Professor of Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Ä¢¹½Ó°Òô Boulder. His research interests include the history of American-Russian relations, the history of sports and the Cold War, sociolinguistics, lexicology, intergenerational communication, second language acquisition, and sociocultural theories and perspectives. His work on American-Russian relations and sports and the Cold War has a particular connection to the study of international affairs, examining the ways in which diplomacy, ideology, culture, media, and sport shaped relations between the United States, Russia, and the wider international community. He regularly teaches REES 4301, History of American-Russian Relations, as well as courses on Sport and the Cold War, Russian language, culture, and history. His current book project, Sports and the Cold War in the 1980s, explores international sport as an arena of geopolitical competition, diplomacy, cultural exchange, and soft power during the final decade of the Cold War. He is the author of several books and numerous articles and has presented his research in Russia, China, India, Turkey, Bulgaria, Iceland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
