2026 Call for Proposals: Annual Conference on South Asia
The University of Wisconsin–Madison Center for South Asia has announced the Call for Proposals for the 54th Annual Conference on South Asia. This year’s theme, “Transcending Borders and Nationalism – South Asia as cultures, histories, and topography,” invites interdisciplinary proposals related to all countries of South Asia.
The conference will be held in person from October 28–31, 2026, in Madison, Wisconsin.

Participants are encouraged to review submission guidelines and note that all presenters must register. Special Topics Round Tables are also welcomed, offering space for timely and engaging discussions beyond traditional academic panels.
Additional updates include optional program book purchases and revised virtual participation guidelines, with at least one presenter required to attend in person.
